Our second day on weather watch has been my kind of day…we went to the beach! The Captain is ok with going to the beach to actually, you know, hang out at the beach and I love it.  Somehow we had managed to miss this activity here in Marathon but these extra days just seemed perfect to claim a little sand time.

Today we went to Bahia Honda State Park and explored the beaches, camp ground and even had a hot dog at the snack bar.  I took a few pics on my cell phone as I didn’t want to carry the big camera.  At some point I stumbled across some pics we haven’t posted, so this is it for today’s narrative.  Just going to fill in with a few shots from around the Keys that haven’t shown up elsewhere on the blog.  Hope you enjoy.

Kite boarder at Bahia Honda.  We watched for awhile and it seemed like a lot of work for a short ride.
There was plenty of wind, she just had to be going the right direction.

Tiki gods

This was the Islmarada Fish Company.  They were actually feeding the tarpon but the  pelicans were there to claim their share.

Directions outside the Fish Company
Along side the Fish Company was a Bass Pro Shop.  Inside they had the sister ship to Hemingway's boat Pilar .  It seemed roomy inside until we considered there was no head and no galley.

This boat (8' by 22' with a 2 cylindar engine) was inside the Ft Jefferson.  Our guide told us it had been used by 36 Cubans fleeing to the US.  It was found just about four months ago.
